ScottishPower becomes first of the Big Six energy firms to be banned from proactive selling
12 days seems a strange sanction to me. I have previously profiled the importance and value of community energy schemes in rural areas and this sort of sanction explains why it is increasingly important to support them. The article tells us:
Energy giant ScottishPower has been banned from actively recruiting new customers for 12 days after an Ofgem investigation found it failed to address serious customer service problems.
The watchdog said ScottishPower failed to clear a backlog of outstanding Energy Ombudsman decisions by the end of November.
The ban started on Wednesday and affects all outbound sales activities.
In November, Ofgem launched an investigation into ScottishPower’s treatment of customers.
Ofgem said ScottishPower customers were experiencing long call waiting times, receiving late bills and the firm was not implementing Ombudsman decisions.
